South-east defends record on refugees

Local government figures have defended the record of the south-east and London on taking in asylum seekers and refugees.

Local government figures have defended the record of the south-east and London on taking in asylum seekers and refugees.

The response follows past calls from councils in areas allocated high concentrations of asylum seekers to accommodate more people in the south-east as they await decisions on their applications under the Government's dispersal scheme.
