Spring statement offers no respite for local government

The Spring Statement was never expected to deliver any financial respite for local government – and in that sense it didn’t disappoint. The main takeaway on the day seems to have been Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ insistence that her fiscal rules are ‘non-negotiable’.
