The stage is set for districts to demonstrate their key role

We hope ministers take away the message from conference next month that it is districts, backed by long-term sustainable funding, who are best placed to turn the new decade into the roaring twenties, says Cllr John Fuller.

In the next few weeks, the first major local government fixture of the new decade takes place in Warwick for the District Councils' Network (DCN) annual conference.

On 6 and 7 February, it will be the first opportunity for new ministers to directly address district council leaders since the General Election – just days after Brexit.
