Strong branding lacked key details

An industrial strategy to cover the whole country is long overdue and is all the more urgent following the vote to leave the EU, writes leader of Sunderland City Council and chair of the Key Cities group Paul Watson.

In my years as a council leader, local government hasn't always seemed to interest new prime ministers. 

So, when Theresa May decided to invest so much attention in a new national industrial strategy and broaden her focus from the Northern Powerhouse, I was pleased at the opportunity presented for councils like my own.
