A strong future for SEND services

The Bi-Borough  - Westminster City Council and Kensington & Chelsea RLBC  - is  breaking new ground with next generation SEND case management, according to Vik Verma and Julie Ely.

The SEND sector is experiencing several challenges.  Rising demand for provision, combined with increasing financial pressures and the need for earlier identification and interventions for children and young people with SEND, stress the urgent need for local authorities to drive improvements across the system.

These challenges mean SEND services nationally must rethink their delivery models to assure the provision of outstanding services to children and young people.  The Bi-Borough has high ambitions for the SEND service, and an equally ambitious digital strategy at the heart of the business case to improve services and replace multiple legacy systems.
