Surge in people seeking help with care bills

The number of adults in care requiring council help due to depleted funds increased by more than a third last year.

The number of adults in care requiring council help due to depleted funds increased by more than a third last year.

Figures reported by the Labour Party showed that 5,385 people – amounting to an average of 15 per day – approached councils for assistance to pay for social care after running out of money in 2018/19, an increase of 38% on the previous year.
