Much more to do to tackle the endemic image problem with care work

Kris Peach of Housing 21 outlines how the sector needs to address care worker shortages and what more needs to be done to tackle the image problems surrounding careers in care.

The care sector is at the sharp end of a recruitment and retention crisis, compounded by the effects of the pandemic and amid the mandatory vaccinations debate.

The much-needed Government 'Made with Care' recruitment campaign, launched in November, aims to promote care work as a rewarding and inspiring career to fill the shortage of around 105,000 vacancies advertised daily - as revealed in the recent Skills For Care report.
