CLIMATE CHANGE

Taking on the climate emergency starts with community

Brent is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030, ‘but to drive meaningful change we must also bring our communities on the journey with us ’, says Carolyn Downs.

‘You must unite behind the science. You must do the impossible. Because giving up can never ever be an option.' Those were the words of Greta Thunberg as she addressed the US Congress earlier this year.

This July, Brent Council answered Greta's call, joining hundreds of organisations across the country in declaring a climate and ecological emergency. We are committed to doing everything reasonable within our power to aim for carbon neutrality by 2030. To deliver, we will need a huge team effort, a genuine and enduring partnership between residents, businesses and government at all levels.
