Tax referendum cap lifted for three councils

A number of councils are set to raise council tax by up to 10% next year without holding referendums.

A number of councils are set to raise council tax by up to 10% next year without holding referendums.

Communities secretary Michael Gove has announced that Thurrock Council and Slough BC have been given permission to raise their council taxes by up to 8%, while Woking BC can raise its by 10% without the need for holding polls.
