The Times They Are a-Changin'

Section 151 officers are all still trying to work out what scarring there will be to finances as a result of the pandemic, and what course recovery will take to what will be a new normal, says Tony Kirkham.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a workshop supported by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and Grant Thornton on financial resilience post-COVID-19. One of the points our host made is that the title was a bit optimistic in that we all recognise we are not post-COVID, but still in the process of working through a response to it, although we are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

It is always good to meet and discuss concerns with other Section 151 officers; what approaches they and their organisations have taken and what challenges and opportunities they see coming down the line.
