The timing of the lifting of national lockdown was ‘London-centric’, leaving  the north of England fighting to bring coronavirus case numbers down, says mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burham.

The timing of the lifting of national lockdown was ‘London-centric', leaving  the north of England fighting to bring coronavirus case numbers down, says mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burham.

Local government health experts have also said pockets of deprivation where residents cannot afford to self-isolate and fewer opportunities in industrial areas for people to work from home have also played a part.
