Government-appointed commissioners will hand back some of their powers to Tower Hamlets LBC mayor John Biggs, communities secretary Greg Clark announced today.

From this weekend, the four commissioners will no longer have the power to directly run the council, but will continue to carry out some functions and will oversee further improvements led by Mayor Biggs.
