Whitehall is expected to reaffirm its commitment to local government transparency when it pushes ahead with plans to update the 2015 code using secondary legislation, The MJ understands.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) ran an eight-week consultation on updating the code to ‘provide the opportunity for greater town hall transparency and also to enhance scrutiny of the use of public assets and resources, including through better comparison of data' last spring.
