Union damns 'exploitation' in Right to Buy

Research by the GMB shows nearly 40% of Right to Buy purchased properties in Wandsworth, are being rented by private landlords.

Nearly 40% of Right to Buy purchased properties in Wandsworth are now being rented by private landlords, research by trade union GMB has revealed.

A total of 6,180 dwellings are rented to private tenants in the region by some 977 private landlords, revealing what the GMB terms an 'exploitation of housing stock' inherent in the Right to Buy scheme. Tenants have acquired a total of 15,874 council dwellings in Wandsworth through the Government initiative.
