During the General Election last year, a week before polling day, I wrote an article for The MJ detailing the ‘knowns' and ‘unknowns' Britain would face depending which party secured the public's confidence at the ballot box. Following the referendum, we must now grapple with uncertainty on an entirely different scale.
In the space of a week, Britain's political landscape has changed beyond measure. The electorate has exercised its democratic right to leave the EU; an incredibly decent and capable prime minister has sadly resigned; and the future of those at the helm of Labour seems just as unclear, with a divisive and drawn-out leadership contest now almost inevitable. That's not to mention the renewed and amplified rumbles of independence north of the border.
