A sector finance expert has warned councils will have to continue making ‘unpalatable' decisions.

Speaking at the Local Government Association's annual conference, director of public financial management at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, Iain Murray, said: ‘I suspect we will still have to do things that are unpalatable. There is a real risk that we normalise that.
