Unpicking what 'hard choices' means

Hard choices need to be not only about things we cannot afford in the short-term, but the things we cannot afford not to do in the long-term, says Caroline Green

Following the outcome of the General Election, as predicted, we are all now examining what ‘change' will look like. Also, what will ‘hard choices will need to be made' mean in practice?

Most of us in local government are resigned to the fact it means little relief to our strained finances, at least until growth in the economy kicks in. But I hope that is not all it means.
