‘Significant cuts' in Valuation Office Agency (VOA) staffing levels should be reviewed to ensure the organisation is ‘fit-for-purpose' amid a backlog of 69,000 appeals, London Councils has said.

In a submission to the Treasury Committee, London Councils said the reduction of around 1,000 posts – nearly a third of the VOA's workforce – was ‘adversely affecting the quality of the service being provided to ratepayers'.
