Warning audit crisis could get worse

Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee chair Clive Betts spoke to The MJ as it carries out an inquiry into local audit.

The audit crisis gripping local government could get worse before it gets better, according to an MP investigating the issue.

Clive Betts, chair of the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee, which is currently carrying out an inquiry into local audit, told The MJ: ‘The process isn't working very well, given the astounding number of audits outstanding.
