Warning over rise in council tax arrears

According to forecasts by Council Tax Advisors,the number of people owing council tax arrears is likely to rise.

The number of people owing council tax arrears is likely to rise by 10% from April - with 25% facing bailiff action - according to forecasts by Council Tax Advisors.

The organisation is warning the Government's abolition of Council Tax Benefits in April 2013 will lead to an increase in the number of people getting into debt over their council tax payments. There are already 4.7m families owing money in council tax arrears.
