Right to whinge

Council procurement officials shouldn't blacklist voluntary sector bodies for speaking out, argues Sir Stephen Bubb.

I attended an excellent meeting recently with charity chief executives in Surrey, kindly arranged by Jonathan Powell of the Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People, which demonstrated the grit and determination of our sector's leaders in difficult times.

We spoke about the challenges posed by the budget pressures facing local councils, but also the opportunities which might enable sector leaders to argue for new, innovative approaches to service delivery.
