Councils are best placed to counter radicalisation while continuing to monitor and support community cohesion so the Home Office must ensure the right level of funding follows to fulfil Prevent duties, writes Martin Esom.
Following worldwide incidents the role of local authorities to counter radicalisation and combat terrorism has never been more important.
As a council we have been proactively involved in the government's Prevent Strategy since 2011 and our work has tried to keep pace with the times.
