Finance chiefs have warned some parts of the NHS are heading towards a financial cliff without integration of health and social care.

Chief executive officer of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, Rob Whiteman, said more effective ways of working were needed to secure the long-term financial sustainability of the health service.
