Who will fill the void?

With so many Section 151 officers set to retire or leave local government, innovative action will be needed to fill the talent void, say Andrew Tromans and Mizan Rouf

During the recent Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Conference in Manchester, my colleagues at CIPFA-Penna and I spoke to several Section 151 officers (S151) and other senior finance professionals.

The recurring themes centred around recruitment and succession planning, specifically at the senior end of the market.
