System-wide approach to no more homelessness in Norfolk

The Norfolk Strategic Housing Partnership uses a more human approach to tackling homelessness, centred on speaking to people who have been or are currently sleeping rough, says Stephen Evans.

In among the challenges of the past 18 months, what has made me the most proud is how local government has supported people sleeping rough during the pandemic. This hasn't simply been about getting everybody in, it has been about providing the interventions people need to break the underlying causes of homelessness.

In Norwich, since March 2020, the city council – through its multi-agency Pathways programme – has moved more than 150 people off the streets into temporary accommodation. More than 120 have since been moved into settled accommodation through a housing-first approach.
