On Monday, the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations' (ACEVO) ‘Commission on youth unemployment' event, chaired by ex Cabinet minister for communities and local government, David Miliband, released its final report.

It starkly demonstrates the cost to the chancellor – not to mention society as a whole – of failing to act to tackle the startling rise in youth unemployment which has occurred since the onset of the recession.
