Financial fears grow in face of UC rollout

Pressure was this week piled on ministers as they vowed to push ahead with the troubled Universal Credit (UC) rollout.

In the face of welfare experts warning further reforms are necessary to avoid a deepening rent arrears crisis, work and pensions secretary David Gauke confirmed his department would nevertheless continue with the full implementation of UC, which has been trialled across one-sixth of the Government’s Jobcentre network.
