Let's get serious about decent pay

If we are serious about building a resilient northern economy then we need to start with the people who live and work here, says Sarah Longlands

This week, IPPR North has just published new research on how local authorities can help improve pay and conditions for people in the North of England.

Our new report, Decent Work: Harnessing the Power of Local Government, recommends Northern leaders work together to champion a 'living wage North', which would mane that by 2025, no one working in the North would be paid less than the real living wage (currently £9 an hour).
