Local government has been congratulated by the minister for Syrian refugees for hitting their target of resettling 1,000 vulnerable Syrians before Christmas. 

Richard Harrington MP praised the efforts of councils and partner organisations after they reached the first milestone in the vulnerable persons resettlement scheme, which aims to rehome 20,000 people fleeing war-ravaged Syria by 2020.
