Cash-strapped councils in the South East have outlined strategies to become financially sustainable in a bid to get ahead of changes to local government funding.

Thurrock BC, which is currently projecting a 0.1% overspend based on the first three months of the financial year, has agreed a new process and timetable on how it will draw up its short and medium-term budget.
