A council has hit back at a government watchdog after being accused of abusing legal powers to halt the publication of complaints against it.

A council has hit back at a government watchdog after being accused of abusing legal powers to halt the publication of complaints against it.

Local Government Ombudsman Michael King claimed York City Council had twice used Section 32 confidentiality notices inappropriately. Mr King said it hampered Ombudsman investigations and raised ‘serious concerns' about the council's commitment to address complaints in an ‘open and transparent manner'.
