Wirral MBC has pledged £2m and established an improvement board in a bid to tackle ‘widespread and serious failures' in the authority's children's services.

This week Ofsted found that senior managers and political leaders had not provided ‘effective, stable leadership' and that services had ‘deteriorated' since inspections in 2011 and 2012.
