Council leaders have called on the Government to ‘loosen its grip' and let local authorities take key regeneration decisions on area regeneration, following Chancellor George Osborne's autumn announcement.

Mr Osborne announced current savings in spending commitments and £20bn pension fund support would help fund a £31bn programme of potential infrastructure improvements.
