Bid to win

Wyre Council has made sourcing external support priority, a strategy that is paying dividends, explains Garry Payne

At Wyre we're keen to keep investment and development moving forward despite difficult financial times and fierce competition for funding. We've dedicated significant resources to the bidding war and officers have risen to the challenge, relishing the freedom to come up with differing ways of fulfilling projects in our Business Plan.

We've secured millions in grants and charity funding for a diverse range of schemes aimed at helping communities, businesses and individuals, and this year is our best yet with the start of projects worth around £70m.

Our impressive track record for delivering projects on time and on target (often exceeding outputs), has given funders belief in the organisation. It's given confidence to the private sector too and investment is on the increase.
