Hertfordshire CC's deputy chief executive, Sarah Pickup, has been appointed as deputy chief executive of the Local Government Association (LGA), The MJ can reveal.

The former president of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, Ms Pickup was previously director of health and community services at the authority.
