LGA chairman urges ‘complete rethink’ of local government funding as councils grapple with growing financial challenges.

Town hall chiefs have issued fresh warnings about the dire state of council finances, amid claims one county is at risk of going bust.

The warnings come as The MJ understands the National Audit Office (NAO) is preparing to launch a fresh probe into the financial sustainability of local authorities.
