Brexit should not be an excuse for avoiding domestic issues

The next PM should increase council funding, build homes where they are needed and improve urban transport, according to Andrew Carter.

The race to be our next Prime Minister is almost over. Brexit is their biggest task but it should not be an excuse for failing to address important domestic issues.

Cities' place in this debate matters. They are home to 54% of people, 60% of jobs and 62% of GVA. The shires may be the Conservatives' heartlands, but a One Nation leader must also improve the lives of people in cities.
