The Industrial Strategy can reinforce a focus on big cities

Hitting growth predictions depends on building in and around London and the Greater South East and focusing on cities like Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Glasgow, which are big in name only, says Andrew Carter.

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) predicts less growth than previously suggested this year, but more growth than expected in the next few years.

Interestingly and correctly, it forecasts that more housebuilding would boost economic growth and that the Government's planning reforms will permanently increase GDP by 0.2% by 2029-30. This is a big deal.
