How do we bridge the accountability gap?

Tempting as it is to argue for a free local government, unchained from the shackles of central control, there are still a lot of questions to be answered on accountability, writes Heather Jameson.

Debating devolution has become a pastime largely focusing on mayors. Should directly-elected mayors be enforced for metro areas or does that go against the spirit of devolution?

The irony is, both those for and against are arguing for the same thing – probity and accountability.
