Newcastle City Council chief executive Pat Ritchie may be a Scot, but she has a long connection to the city.  From the people, right up to the top of the authority, she has a clear vision of what the place is about. 

Her life has been, she roughly calculates, evenly split between living in Scotland and the North East – and it is not the first time she has worked for the council.
