Birmingham City Council has threatened trade union Unite with the prospect of a court order as industrial action by refuse workers continues.

Britain's largest local authority vowed to take legal action, which could cost around £1.5m, if talks at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) fail.
