Council executive teams must be willing to stake their reputation on the early and quality production of accounts, finance experts have warned.

A new report by the Chartered Institute for Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) called on executive teams to ‘own' the process and argued commitment at the ‘highest levels' of the authority was ‘critical'.
