Scottish council chief executives have welcomed a MSP probe into additional payments received by returning officers in the country.

The Local Government and Communities Committee has launched an investigation after it was revealed Council bosses across Scotland's 32 councils received an average of £34,000 on top of their salaries for overseeing three elections and two referendums since 2014.
