Wirral MBC has pledged to invest £2m into its children's services after a watchdog uncovered ‘serious and widespread failures,' an internal document has revealed. 

A letter signed by council chief executive Eric Robinson, seen by The MJ, said initial feedback from the latest Ofsted inspection exposed ‘evidence of poor practice in a range of areas' and highlighted issues relating to high social worker turnover and partnership working.
