Cross-sector calls for the chancellor to rescue crippled adult social care budgets have emerged after regulators gave their starkest warning yet of the monumental task the sector is facing.

The Care Quality Commission's (CQC) has today raised concerns that  social care is approaching a ‘tipping point'.
