Delayed transfers have hit record highs, prompting fears that councils and health organisations will buckle under increasing strain in the winter months.

Delayed transfers have hit record highs, prompting fears that councils and health organisations will buckle under increasing strain in the winter months. 

Official NHS figures showed there were 196,246 delayed days in September, compared to 147,738 last year - the highest since records began in 2010.
