Deputy Director – Adult Social Care - Oxfordshire County Council

Deputy Director – Adult Social Care - Oxfordshire County Council

Be the driving force behind our Adult Social Care.

At Oxfordshire County Council, we're looking to recruit a Deputy Director for our Adult Social Care Directorate. It's your chance to join a forward-thinking council that's well placed to tackle the challenges currently faced by the public sector, thanks to its clear strategic direction and astute financial management.

Your role

Working closely with our Director of Adult Social Services, John Jackson, you'll be leading a large number of key services with a budget of £200m a year. You'll manage all social care teams across all client groups, upholding the highest standards, delivering effective safeguarding and inspiring our teams to perform at their best. Links with the county-wide Clinical Commissioning Group are good, with integrated community teams set to make a major impact.

Ties are equally strong on the commissioning front. We have recently created a genuinely pooled budget of around £200m for older people by bringing together health and council resources – the first of its kind in the country.

You'll strive to develop these partnerships and to explore other opportunities for joint working that could benefit our community.

As well as managing operational teams, you'll be spearheading an innovative Adult Services Improvement Programme that's transforming the Directorate's services. We're part-way through the three-year programme and we'll be looking to you to bring it to a successful conclusion. It's all about driving organisational change and managing cultural development.

The aim? To give people the power to control their lives and decide their own care and support. It's an exciting initiative that's set to make a big difference to people across our community.

Requirements

To be considered, you must be an experienced social worker with excellent leadership skills. You'll be used to leading change, working with large and complex budgets, and operating within a political environment.

You'll also be comfortable delivering services in collaboration with multiple partners and ensuring they meet the needs of a diverse community.

Articulate, organised and aware of relevant legislation, you'll have the expertise and confidence to take on a central role.

To apply or find out more by visiting www.executive.oxforshire.gov.uk or for a confidential discussion please ring Anthony Hopkin on 07500042272 at Penna.

Closing date: 29th November 2013.
