Devolution, Brexit and health pledge tops agenda

Heather Jameson says the Queen’s Speech could be the shortest-lived legislative plan in history – but if the Government has time to deliver just some of the measures there is lots of legislation for local government

The Government's first Queen's Speech since 2017 has Brexit at its very heart, alongside a commitment to the NHS and tackling the rising tide of violent crime.

But when it comes to local government, the real star of the legislative show is the Government's pledge to introduce a devolution White Paper.
