Digital dos and don'ts for councils in 2015

Local government could deliver cumulative £670m savings from adroitly redesigning services for an online, mobile-first world, but there are pitfalls to avoid, writes Anthony Peake.

According to the results of our annual Public Sector Channel Shift Strategies Survey Report , published earlier this week, the public sector is aiming to save more than £5bn collectively in 2015 via channel shift of transactions to lower-cost online channels including web, mobile and social media.

On average councils could expect to save £1.55m each – a 345% increase on expected savings within the sector last year. This equates to total savings of £670m anticipated across the local government sector in 2015.
