New digital standard 'big step forward'

The new Local Government Digital Service Standard has been hailed as a ‘big step forward’ for the way councils deliver services.

The new Local Government Digital Service Standard has been hailed as a ‘big step forward' for the way councils deliver services.

Published by LocalGov Digital with feedback from more than 60 councils, the standard aims to create a shared ambition for local government to improve services and put users at the heart of service design.

The standard also details a framework for assessing compliance and allows councils to share best practice.

Vice-chair of LocalGov Digital, Phil Rumens, said: ‘This a big step forward for the way local government delivers digital.

‘Not only will it help create better services - it will enable this to happen in a more joined up way.'
